The Murder Capital

Ireland’s The Murder Capital have often been compared to Fontaines D.C. and with good reason. They share more than just their Irish heritage. Both band’s music is dark, intense, introspective with post-punk grooves and attitude. I saw the Fontaines D.C. on this very stage in 2019 and the comparisons are spot on. The Murder Capital were as exciting to watch perform if not more so than their country mates. The entire band took control of the stage and interacted with one another. Something I have found lacking with the Fontaines, a band I’ve seen two more times since then.

The set was dominated by their latest release, “Gigi’s Recovery” with a few of the stronger tracks from their debut album “When I Have Fears”, both self released on their own Human Season label. Their music also hints at Radiohead, Joy Division and even U2. It will be exciting to watch this band grow and evolve.

Catch The Murder Capital on tour of the U.S. through April.
